Auckland Art Gallery
The Auckland Art Gallery is the most magnificent cultural site in the city. The gallery, which is housed in a magnificent French Renaissance-style structure established in 1887, houses New Zealand’s largest art collection, with over 15,000 items on show. The permanent galleries house a diverse collection of artworks, including 14th-century European painting and sculpture.
The primary New Zealand collection, on the other hand, is worth noting. A significant number of work highlighting Maori and Pacific Island artists may be seen on the bottom floor. On the top floor, the New Zealand Historic Art Gallery and Maori Portraiture Gallery, which display the work of New Zealand’s early European settlers, are well worth seeing. There are guided tours available, as well as a café and shop on the property.
